My Scentsy Journey (and what a journey so far) began around April of 2012, when my girlfriend who had been sharing Scentsy asked me if I would like to place an order. I placed an order for 2 warmers and a six-pack of wax. When I recieved my products I fell in love with them instantly.
I joined Scentsy at the end of May 2012 while in a very tough place in my life.
Money was really tight and we would struggle to make ends meet. Staying on top of our utility bills was particularly difficult. In a busy household like ours, our electricity bills can quickly spiral out of control and this used to cause us a lot of stress. To be honest, I wish I had thought about switching energy providers to a company like Green Mountain Energy back then. A friend of mine recently switched energy provider and has noticed a marked difference in the cost of her electricity. We all want to save money after all. I suppose in the heat of the moment, it can be difficult to know what to do though. So, how does this all tie in with my Scentsy journey?
Why did I join? I can tell you that in May of 2012 it was Why Not? After all it was a business opportunity for $99. (plus tax & shipping) What did I have to lose?
Except for the 2 warmers & scents I ordered, I was new to the product, and I sure didn’t know much about the product, the business or Scentsy. I just knew that Scentsy could be a great opportunity and a welcomed distraction to the challenges I was facing in my life. I really never thought it through, I just went for it and order my kit (business in a box). To be honest, I didn’t work my Scentsy Business very much in the first year (most my kit was still sitting in the box). I told myself I was to busy, no one would buy from me, fear of falure and more.
I changed my fears and self-sabotaging failures into I CAN do this and WHY NOT ME?!
So, I stepped out of my comfort zone and went for it. I absorbed a wealth of information from my mentors. Yes, I got frustrated, I was ready to quit several times however, I knew I could not quit. I knew we too, deserved a life of freedom. The freedom to not hid from bill collectors calling, the freedom of time, the freedom to be home with my children, the freedom to be a better mom, the freedom to have extra money for an emergency, {without having to rob from Peter to pay Paul}, so many freedoms.
Well, I am here 2+ years later about to have our 2nd debt-free Christmas, I answer the phone without fear, I am home with my children, I can pay for the extras for my children {cheerleading, modeling shoots, etc.} without having to say, “Maybe next month, we’ll see.” with a heavy heart. Before my new business venture, I had credit cards no credit and I had to really juggle money around to even afford one additional activity. Times have really changed! I have earned 2 All-Expense Paid trips – One to the Bahamas in June of 2014 and 1 to Cancun in January 2015. If it wasn’t for this business venture, I would have probably looked into what Loans I could have got to help me build the necessary funds to go on fantastic trips like these.
I don’t tell you this to brag, I tell you this because I honestly never thought it would be possible.
